In 2016, IBM created the first ever AI generated movie trailer, and since then, we are seeing a rise in AI’s involvement in all technologies. From face recognition to speech synthesis, soon there’ll be nothing that AI can’t learn…
We are always asking ourselves how we can make video production quicker, easier, and cheaper to produce for our clients, whilst never jeopardising the quality and creativity of the product. AI is definitely something that is allowing the former things to happen, however, many people are still cautious as to whether creativity will ever be able to be replicated by AI to a human standard.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJEzuYynaiw”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”The Good…”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]AI video production products are cropping up all over! We’re fascinated by online generators such as Raw Shorts’ AI Video Maker, which uses artificial intelligence to build a professional video from written text and blog posts.
If you haven’t seen it already, we also used an AI bot to generate descriptions for each of our team members on our About Us page. The results were all really funny and the team came to the conclusion that they were accurate enough to make it to the website!

Meanwhile, AI is being used in every sector, not just technology and entertainment. For example, Microsoft’s AI department are attempting to improve the world by injecting artificial intelligence into all things. From farming to retail.
‘The Yield‘ is a project which is using Microsoft AI to improve farming processes, by tracking environmental changes which affect crop yields. Their technologies are learning when best to plant, water, and harvest crops, whilst also identifying weeds and other variables which may affect the food production. Is AI the missing piece to eradicating world hunger? Maybe.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”The Bad…”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]As we’ve said, as AI adopts more of a presence in the video production world, we do wonder where it’s abilities are going to reach a limit that only the human brain can overcome. In our opinion… we think that some of the creativity and out-of-the-box ideas that come with being a video producer can only really come from the human brain.
Not to mention, humans often adopt an instinct to try and reject technology like artificial intelligence. Thanks to things like Sci-Fi films and television programmes, this generation has learned to have a somewhat irrational fear of robots taking over the world, stealing everyone’s jobs and replicating human relationships a little too closely (thanks for that, Black Mirror)…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”The Downright Weird…”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Artificial intelligence may well be the answer to many problems, and AI in video production is undoubtedly going to change the industry completely. However, with great power comes the ability to make great mistakes.
If you fancy a giggle… Here are a couple of examples where AI has gone embarrassingly wrong:
Twitter AI robot, Tay, learns to make offensive slurs at other users.
Automated Amazon sales page makes horrific phone case designs. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
