In business, it’s important to reflect on what you’ve achieved, and to use this information to guide your choices in the future. We are huge advocates of taking responsibility of previous successes and failures and using them to our advantage in the future. 2019 was a huge year for Five on a Bike, with a lot of new beginnings and exciting things getting ready to kick off The Roaring Twenties!
Reflecting on 2019 & Looking Forward to 2020
Looking Back
In 2019 Five on a Bike gained two new employees – Steph and Sakara. Steph now heads up the Marketing team and Sakara works with the production team in project management, camera operating, and editing.
Five on a Bike also reached its 5 year birthday in 2019! This is a huge achievement for our MD, York, who started his career in video production as a freelancer fresh out of Bucks New University, and now runs a team of 7 video producers out of two offices in Prestwood.
In these offices, we installed a fully-equipped green screen studio available for the public to hire. This is going to be a massive asset to the company in 2020, and has already been a huge hit with our new and existing clients.
You may have also noticed Five on a Bike showing particular interest in artificial intelligence in 2019. This is because we have begun the process of developing an AI product which will benefit not only our business, but the world of corporate video. Stay tuned!
In 2019 we also reached the milestone of creating our very first TV advert. Working with Bamber Young, we created a TV advert for Happy Mama, which aired on ITVBe over the 2019 Christmas period. We were absolutely thrilled with the video and we can’t wait to create our next ad!
Our MD, York, who you can see in the video at the top of this page, became a regular vlogger this year. We began sharing York’s thought leadership pieces, interviews, and business advice videos in March of 2019 and since then we’ve noticed an absolute boom in recognition! This personal insight into our business has lead people to approach York and our team as if they know us, and we are so happy that we get to meet new people through vlogging.
Finally, one of the greatest achievements of all, was raising a massive £1,000 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People by hosting a 24-hour charity live stream. We are so pleased with the outcome of this, and can’t wait to give back to the community again in 2020.
Looking Forward
We are so excited for what’s to come in 2020 and the next decade. We’re looking forward to growing the business by 40%, by niching into new sectors and investing in some new equipment to consistently improve the quality of our work!
In 2020, we’re expecting a lot less resistance in the economy. As business owners know (maybe more than anyone!), 2019 was a bit of a weird year. There was a lot of uncertainty in the market, we didn’t know where our economy was going to stand, and a lot of change was happening around us. In 2020, we’re hoping the economy can finally settle and certainty can be regained.
We’re really thankful for the new foundations that we set in 2019 because this will help us to build on everything we’ve created. We’re hoping to grow the business by 40% in 2020 and we think that the ups and downs of 2019 will help us to do so.
To achieve this growth, our first step in 2020 was new branding. We have created a new website and logo, and adopted a new ethos: Be Brave With Video. We are ready to step outside of the box of video production and start making a real impact on our clients’ growth and change, not just their videos.
What did you achieve in 2019 and what are you looking forward to in 2020?
