What's in a name?
Why, we hear you ask, did you call your company Five on a Bike? Well the reason is exactly why you are reading this; it’s interesting, it makes people ask why and hopefully helps people to remember us. Being a creative company we thought very long and hard about this, because there is so much but so little in a name.
What we mean by this, is that the name represents your whole company. The moment it is introduced, it then becomes always seen, but never forgotten, like every great brand should be.
Our name stems from many hours of brainstorming and a flash of an idea on Boxing Day 2013. Company director, York, was going over name ideas with his wife, they were searching for inspiration, thinking back to their time together traveling in Asia… and a little spark of an idea reared its head:
In South-East Asia many people are very poor, but they still need to get around. What families do, is buy a cheap motorcycle and all bundle on it. We thought back to all the times we had seen people on a bike and as far as we could remember five seemed to be the optimum number.
So, Five on a bike was born and the branding began;
This is the original sketch of possible logo ideas, created by Nick Bright, which we developed from there. Many iterations later, the brand was born.
We realised that five was also a great number to display the basics for making film content, so we created charters for each and set them in a range of poses.
